Brave souls, whose memories crumbled like the soul underfoot. Guns clutched to their chests as the rain of foreign grounds washed away
The build up of sorrow and sweat.
At home, a woman sits, a photograph holding the connection,
Hope and Fear for her loved ones. A husband. A son. A brother. A lover. A man, A life. Reduced to a number on a marble cenotaph, a name on a list. Yet as they drew breath, they wrote history.
